RUI ANDRADE JOINS TF SPORT FOR FIA WEC LMGT3 CAMPAIGN

2023 FIA WEC LMP2 champion Rui Andrade switches to GT3 cars for the 2024 season, joining TF Sport for a full campaign in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship behind the wheel of a Corvette Z06 GT3.R.

Andrade made his sports car debut in 2021 in LMP2 and has entered all the most important endurance racing series since then, including the Asian and European Le Mans Series, IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup and FIA WEC. He claimed the ELMS LMP2 Pro-Am title in 2021, won Petit Le Mans in 2022, stood on the Le Mans podium and became FIA WEC LMP2 champion in 2023 and now he is ready for a new challenge.

2024 is the beginning of a new era in the history of FIA WEC, introducing the new LMGT3 class. The field will comprise 18 entries from nine major manufacturers, including Corvette, BMW, Aston Martin Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus, McLaren, Porsche and Ford.

Rui joins TF Sport, a FIA WEC Champion and Le Mans-winning outfit for their first season of running Corvette cars. Tom Ferrier’s team will field two Corvette Z06 GT3.R-s. The Sonangol-supported driver will share the #81 machine with former Aston Martin factory driver, FIA WEC vice-champion and Le Mans winner Charlie Eastwood (IRE) and prototype ace Bronze driver Tom Van Rompuy (BEL)

Rui Andrade:

“I am very happy to be back racing in the World Endurance Championship again and to take on this new challenge! It will be my first time racing in GTs, but I couldn’t ask for better people around me to guide me on this journey. TF Sport is an experienced team with many titles and wins in multiple classes, so I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together”

Jamie Campbell-Walter, Managing Director Bullet Sports Management:

“Rui had an impeccable 2023 season, with LMP2 no longer in WEC we chose the LMGT3 route. An exciting category with an incredibly strong lineup of manufacturers and drivers. We will make sure that Rui is ready to tackle this new category and be fully prepared for the season as a GT driver. He’s in great hands with TF Sport and Corvette.”

The 2024 FIA WEC season commences on March 2 with the 1812 Km of Qatar and will visit eight countries across four continents, including endurance racing’s crown jewel race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
