GOETHE BROTHERS CLAIM VICTORY AT THE DUBAI 24

ROFGO Racing started the season with a full Goethe line-up in the Dragon Racing-operated #408 Mercedes AMG GT4. 18-year-old Oliver, who won the race last year with his father, Roald Goethe, coach Stuart Hall and family friend Jordan Grogor, was joined this year by his brother, GT World Challenge Europe Endurance and Overall Silver Cup Champion Benjamin Goethe.

This was the first time the two brothers were able to race alongside their father, and they seized the opportunity to make it one to remember.

The Dubai 24 Hours is the first endurance race of the motorsport season, and many big teams and manufacturers are using it to test out their new cars, so it attracts a large and prestigious grid.

While Benjamin has been in sports cars since he was 16 and gained several wins, podium finishes and impressive mileage under his belt, Oliver is relatively new to multi-class and endurance racing. However, the FIA F3 driver quickly adapted to the new environment and the roof above his head.

The quintet showed great pace during the tests leading up to the weekend and did a superb job in the Qualifying, putting the ROFGO-Dragon Mercedes on pole for Saturday’s race. The five drivers completed a perfect race, unhindered by the seventeen Code 60 periods and a puncture during the night. They claimed a dominant victory, and Oliver even set the fastest GT4 lap of the race.

Benjamin Goethe, ROFGO Junior driver:

“Second Dubai 24 win in a row! I really enjoyed being back in a GT car and racing with my family. It was challenging, of course, as I am more used to sprint races and single-seater cars, but I love a challenge! Thanks to my amazing teammates for this experience and to everyone at Dragon for the perfect car.”

Oliver Goethe, ROFGO Junior driver:

“I’m very happy to start 2023 with a win. Especially more so that I could share the top step of the podium with my brother, my father, my coach, and Jordan. Thanks to everyone at Dragon Racing for providing us with a race-winning car.”

Roald Goethe, ROFGO Racing CEO:

“First time the three of us were racing together, and hopefully not the last. We will look at other opportunities in the future! It feels good to be kept on your toes by them. It just doesn’t get better than that unless maybe when their mother joins the lineup as well!  We love challenges in the family. In any case, it was a very special moment to see the boys working together as a team.”
