OLIVER GOETHE CROWNED EUROFORMULA OPEN CHAMPION

ROFGO Junior Oliver Goethe became the 2022 Euroformula Open champion last weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya.

To say Oliver Goethe dominated the 2022 Euroformula Open season is an understatement. The 18-year-old nicknamed ‘The Great Dane’ has taken the series by storm.

In his season of superlatives, he took seven pole positions out of ten Qualifying sessions, never finishing outside of the top three. He stood on the podium seventeen times, setting twelve fastest laps, and amassed an astonishing eleven victories.

Goethe entered last weekend’s season finale with a significant lead in the standings, and he left nothing to chance. He stormed into pole position and took a lights-to-flag victory on Saturday to clinch the title with two races to spare.

Oliver Goethe:

“Wow, what a season! I didn’t really know what to expect when I entered the championship, however, I knew what Motopark is capable of. It would be hard to choose my favourite moment as there’s been plenty. From taking my first win in Estoril, to taking a triple victory in Spa and claiming the title with a win here in Barcelona. Massive thanks to the entire Motopark team, to Timo, Nicolaj, my parents, my coach Stuart, my partners, ROFGO Racing, Gulf Oil International, Venture Engineering, Pitstop Monte Carlo. Tag Heuer and Bullet Sports Management.”

Stuart Hall, Motorsport Director, ROFGO Racing :

I cannot be prouder of the job Ollie has done this year. Not only dominating the Euroformula Open Championship but arriving in FIA F3 for two rounds and showing the motorsport world he belongs there. We will enjoy this, but we are also very aware of the task ahead of us. So we must use this off-season to continue to work hard and improve.

Oliver now returns to his school routine at the International School of Monaco before the preparations for the 2023 season get underway.
