GOETHE CLINCHES GT WORLD CHALLENGE EUROPE SILVER CUP TITLE

ROFGO Junior Benjamin Goethe sealed his second title of the season with Team WRT last weekend in Valencia.

Goethe entered the full GT World Challenge Europe (GTWCE) season in 2022, sharing the #30 Gulf-liveried ROFGO Racing WRT Audi with Thomas Neubauer in Sprint Cup, with Thomas and Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer in Endurance Cup.

After Claiming the Endurance Cup Silver title in Hockenheim, Benjamin headed to Valencia last weekend for the Sprint Cup Season finale and claimed the overall GTWCE Silver Cup title as well with one race to spare.

The duo of Benjamin and Thomas secured P3 on the grid for both races at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit and converted it to a podium finish on Saturday, crossing the line fourth overall and second in class, claiming their fifth Sprint Cup podium finish and visiting the GTWCE rostrum for the eighth time in 2022. They finished P6 in Sunday’s chaotic season finale, collecting enough points to clinch the overall Silver Cup title while finishing third in the Sprint Cup standings.

Benjamin Goethe:

“Double Champions! It has been a season to remember. It’s been tough at times, but we always made the most out of every situation. This team is like a family, so it feels even more special to win with them. Huge thanks to Thomas and JB, Vincent (Vosse), our engineers, mechanics, and everyone at WRT for their hard work during the entire season. Thanks to ROFGO Racing, Gulf Oil International, Venture Engineering, Pitstop Monte Carlo, Tag Heuer, and Bullet Sports Management for the support. And thanks to Audi Sport for providing us with a fantastic car over the years. Let’s go out with a bang in Barcelona!”

Jamie Campbell-Walter:

“We are all extremely proud of Benji. This year he has proved his talent by collecting 8 podiums and numerous wins including a victory at the famous Spa 24hrs. This year everything just fell into place for him, Thomas, and JB with consistently fast performances, combined with WRT’s brilliant strategy calls made the #30 Audi squad a force to reckon with. The future is bright for Benjamin, and we can’t wait to watch him and guide him in his future endeavours.”

The GTWCE season concludes on October 1-2 at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
