ROFGO driver Oliver Goethe visited Circuit Park Zandvoort for the first time last weekend for round 5 of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

The Dutch F1 GP venue welcomed the FRECA grid with challenging weather conditions. The weekend started with wet test and practice sessions, followed by two dry race days at MP Motorsports home track.
Oliver, who has never raced at Zandvoort, improved session by session as the weekend progressed by finishing in the mid-field for both practice sessions. In Saturday’s qualifying, Oliver qualified a creditable thirteenth in the 32-car field and went on to finish P14.
By Sunday morning, everything fell into place for the Bullet Athlete. Claiming his best qualifying position of the season so far, he put the Gulf Oil International liveried car in P6. After a difficult first lap, Oliver went on to finish a fighting P10 and gain championship points. He challenged for P9 right up until the checkered flag but with overtaking so difficult around the high-speed Zandvoort circuit, Oliver settled for P10 and can be proud of his weekend in only his second season in single-seaters.

“I am happy with our progress,” – Oliver said. “The car felt great all weekend, so big credit to my team MP Motorsport for the improvements. I am pleased with my Q2 performance, P6 in Sunday’s qualifying was my best result so far. There is still a lot to learn, but I am growing in confidence and I’m really looking forward to reaching even higher in Spa.”

Oliver’s next race will take place in Spa-Francorchamps in a months’ time. (23-25 July).
