HABSBURG JOINS ALGARVE PRO RACING FOR ASIAN LE MANS SERIES CAMPAIGN

Bullet Athlete Ferdinand Habsburg will be back behind the wheel of an LMP2 car in the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series with the reigning champion team.

After a successful season in DTM with Audi Sport Team WRT, the 23-year-old from Austria is seeking new challenges, making the most out of the winter season.

Habsburg, who made his LMP2 debut with a fifth-place result in the 2018 Rolex 24 at Daytona, is set to return to sportscar racing with Algarve Pro Racing. The Sanlas-supported driver is joining the two-time Asian Le Mans Champion team from Portugal, aiming to defend their title, to gain entry to the 89th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The 2021 Asian Le Mans Series – which usually races all across Asia and Australia – will be held solely at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi due to the travel restrictions, consisting of four four-hour races on two different track layouts under various conditions, including day and night races as well.

Ferdinand will share the #26 Aurus 01 LMP2 machine with fellow Austrian René Binder, and 2020 Euroformula Open Champion Yifei Ye.

The REMUS-sponsored driver is looking forward to competing outside of Europe once again, saying:

“I’ve always loved racing outside of Europe a lot, just because you always learn something new about a different culture or racing culture. Going with Algarve Pro Racing to the Middle East to race in the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series will be a new adventure, and it’s something I am super excited about.”

The 2021 Asian Le Mans Series season starts on February 5 with the first of four ‘4H of Abu Dhabi’ races at the Yas Marina F1 circuit.
