TOM ONSLOW-COLE SNAPPED-UP BY SPS FOR SPRINT SERIES

Bullet Athlete Tom Onslow-Cole (GBR) has signed a deal with SPS Automotive Performance to race in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup starting at Misano in Italy this weekend (8/9 August).

The multi-championship-winning driver has raced with SPS Automotive Performance since 2016 – taking two International GT Open titles along the way – and, when the team was approached by Christian Hook to race one of its two Mercedes AMG GT3s in the world’s top GT3 series, they called their British champ into action.

It’s no surprise when you consider that in 2019, Tom qualified the SPS Automotive Performance Mercedes on pole eight times from nine GT Open events and helped secure multiple overall wins and podiums for the Pro-Am team.

“I love this team so I’m excited that we have a programme together this year,” said Tom. “I’ve raced with them since 2016, when Stephan [Sohn] invited me to contest Paul Ricard 24 Hours. I knew straight away that the people are smart, hardworking, meticulous and determined to win. They have the perfect balance of ultimate professionalism and a family-like feel and I’m sure Christian and I will have everything we need to fight for podiums.”

Tom and Christian will contest the Pro-Am class of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup and, as Tom is already racing in Endurance Cup with RAM Racing, he will now be eligible for points in the full GT series.

“Tom is one of the most sought-after pros in the Pro-Am class because, as well as being an extremely talented driver, he has an outstanding ability to develop the car and his teammate to get the best results. It’s a common misconception that the best pros are in the Pro class – the paid drivers in the Pro-Am class have to work a lot harder and are often expected to perform in a car that isn’t always set up for them, and with minimal testing laps and tyres.” explained Bullet Director Nic Minassian. “Teams love having Tom involved – he’s a smiling face in the garage, is motivating and can deliver on-track too. We’re proud to have him at Bullet and the fact that he’s got such a busy calendar in a disrupted season is proof that he is doing a fantastic job.”
