BULLET ATHLETE FRANCO COLAPINTO WINS FIA SPANISH F4

Bullet Sports Management driver Franco Colapinto (ARG) clinched the FIA Spanish F4 Championship title with two races remaining following a lights-to-flag victory on the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona, this weekend.

In fact, the 16-year old championship rookie took the title in style by winning all three races in the season finale bringing his debut car racing season tally to eleven victories, 13 podiums and 11 pole positions.

In 2018, the Bullet Athlete from Buenos Aires entered only the final round of the Spanish F4 season and took a win and a second place, proving he was ready for a full season attack. Fernando Alonso’s team FA Racing by Drivex spotted the then 15-year old’s talent and signed him up for the 2019 season.

“I have to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone at FA Racing by Drivex for taking a chance on me,” said Colapinto. “I genuinely wouldn’t be here without them and I can’t thank them enough. Winning the championship feels amazing – I came to Europe to win championships and climb the ranks, and this is a solid start – but I leave with more than just a title. I’ve learned so much this year and have a lot of knowledge and experience to take with me to the next level. We just need to make sure that I have the funding in place to put this into practice, but the team at Bullet are looking after this so I can focus on preparing for the next steps.”

Franco started karting in his homeland of Argentina where he won the Argentinian Championship in 2016 and again in 2018, alongside victory in the 2018 Youth Summer Olympics. He signed with Bullet Sports Management to take his career into single-seaters with sights set firmly on Formula One.

“It’s no secret that Franco doesn’t have the funding of some of the other drivers of his age but he’s proving that he has the talent and you can’t buy that,” commented Bullet Sports Management’s Commercial Director Maria Catarineu who has been trackside with Franco all season. “We’ll do whatever we can to help him reach his potential. It’s not often that a talent this exciting comes along and we’re confident we can find the investment to take him to the top.”

“As well as being a natural talent behind the wheel he’s a very switched-on, bright, intelligent and appreciative young man and we’re looking forward being with him as he carves out a successful career for himself,” added Bullet Sports Management Director Jamie Campbell-Walter, who was also at the season finale. “Well done, Franco, mate – you’ve taken the next step towards reaching your goal this weekend.”
