TOM ONSLOW-COLE FINISHES IN SECOND PLACE AT 24 HOURS OF SPA

Tom Onslow-Cole stood on the second step of the 24 Hours of Spa podium when he and his RAM Racing team-mates crossed the line as runners-up in the highly-competitive Pro-Am class.

It was a week of extremes at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, which saw 41 degree C temperatures for testing and qualifying, and torrential rain for the race resulting in a six-hour long red flag, but OC and his team-mates put on a flawless performance throughout.

In qualifying, OC set the fastest lap in the Pro-Am class, enough to help secure the second-place starting position once all drivers’ lap times were averaged. Along with team-mates Christian Frankenhout (NL), Darren Burke (GB) and Remon Vos (NL), OC and the RAM Racing crew pushed hard using the safety cars to their advantage and getting the most out of the Mercedes AMG GT3.

Despite an impressive performance from the whole team, they didn’t quite have the pace on the day to beat the class-winning Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

“Honestly, we got the position that reflects our package on the day,” explained OC. “The TF Sport Oman Racing car was the faster car and the strategy worked out well for them. Second place was genuinely the best we could get, so were extremely happy with it. It felt good to stand on the podium after what was a tough week weather-wise. I just hope we can go one step higher next year!”
