Portuguese Andrade has agreed a deal with Spanish outfit Drivex to contest the 2019 F3 Open season with one of their Dallara-built F312 cars

Following his promising single-seater debut last year in the Formula 4 Spain, Andrade will take a significant step up in his motorsport career competing onto world-famous race tracks. The Portuguese driver already carried out several private tests and will continue putting experience inder his belt ahead of the season start, which comprises nine events at Paul Ricard, Pau, Hockenheim, Spa-Francorchamps, Hungaroring, Red Bull Ring, Silverstone, Barcelona and Monza.

What are you expecting from your debut in the series?

“I expect to learn a lot this year with Drivex and get faster and faster after each round of the championship. I believe the team is very good in bringing out a drivers development so I will be looking forward to working hard to improve with the team and have a good season. I know it is going to be very hard but with hard work anything is possible.”

How was your progress during winter testing?

“During winter testing I had a lot of fun testing the Formula 3 car and I believe that after every testing session I grew more confident and faster. I was able to get a lot of time in the car which is good and I was also able to test under different conditions as some test days there was a lot of rain so I was also able to get a good number of laps with wet conditions which also made me more comfortable with facing different scenarios during the upcoming season.”

How is Drivex’s experience with the Dallara-built cars helping you to improve quicker?

“The fact that Drivex has had a lot of experience in Formula 3 has played a major role in my development over the winter testing as the team knows how to help a driver adapt his driving in order to bring out the most of the car. Without the team’s experience I believe it would have been hard to improve as much as I did as I would have to learn by myself.”

You will be visiting tracks such as Monza, Spa-Francorchamps or Hockenheim. How does it feel?

“I’ve been watching Formula One races at these legendary tracks ever since I was a kid so it has always been a dream of mine to some day race at these tracks. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to race at these tracks alongside Drivex in the upcoming season and look forward to growing with the team in order to get the best results possible.”
